New life for a Khrushchyovka: transformation of a rental apartment in Moscow

Moscow

New life of a Khrushchevka

This project was a transformation of a typical Moscow Khrushchevka, which was initially cluttered with things and outdated, shabby furniture. The main goal was to create a cozy and modern space while preserving important elements that were dear to the owners.

Blue sofa and Soviet-era furniture

Keeping items with history

We kept several iconic pieces of furniture, such as the sideboard, writing desk, and record player shelf, which hold the family's history. These items were seamlessly integrated into the updated interior to emphasize their value.

Comfortable and modern furniture

For convenience, we replaced the sofa, which now has an accent blue shade and a folding mechanism. We also added a TV stand and functional bookshelves. A cozy accent is created by a new armchair, while the gallery wall above the sofa adds individuality and completeness to the interior, making it modern but with a nod to classic design.

"I believe that interior design is more than just decoration. It’s a reflection of your personality, lifestyle, and needs. I create spaces that are unique for each client. My approach is to make your interior a cozy corner where you feel comfortable, whether you are at home or far away from your familiar surroundings." — Elina, Interior Designer
