A New Life for Existing Pieces

The starting point for this Berlin bedroom was the client’s wish to transform the space without replacing furniture that was still in excellent condition. The solid wood bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers were therefore retained, while carefully selected new pieces gave the room a completely different character. Lighter rounded bedside tables balance the visually substantial bed, while a rattan bench adds both function and a softer, more relaxed element to the composition.

Softening the Architecture

Softening the Architecture

One of the main challenges was the sloped ceiling, which made the room feel visually lower and heavier. Instead of emphasising its geometry, we painted the walls and ceiling in the same warm beige tone, allowing the boundaries between them to visually disappear. Blackout curtains continue the same colour palette, creating a calm, enveloping atmosphere while also protecting the bedroom from excessive heat and sunlight during the summer months.

Natural Details & Colour

Natural textures bring a subtle Japandi influence into the room. The rattan bench is echoed by the mirror above the existing chest of drawers and by the woven pendant light, while a compact nickel floor lamp works comfortably beneath the sloped ceiling. A large low-pile rug introduces subtle blue and yellow accents into the neutral palette, with the same tones continuing through the textiles. Together with warm brown details and dark wood, they create a layered yet calm interior.

A Personal Touch

One of the most personal elements of the future interior will be created by the client herself. As she enjoys macramé, she plans to make a bedspread by hand that can eventually be passed down to her children. During the consultation, we selected suitable colours from the materials she already owned and explored several patterns and compositions for the piece. It reflects the idea behind the entire project: a meaningful transformation does not require replacing everything — sometimes existing furniture, personal objects and a few thoughtful additions are enough to give a room an entirely new life.
