A Personal Palette

The colour concept for this interior was inspired by the client herself. Warm ochre, caramel and orange tones were selected to complement her natural colouring, while soft blue was introduced as a contrasting accent. Rather than designing around a particular trend, the palette was created to reflect the person who would live here — making the interior feel especially personal and natural to its owner.

A Continuous Line

One of the key elements is the warm ochre-brown line that begins on the upper section of the kitchen and continues around the walls of the room. The same tone is echoed in the yellow backsplash, visually connecting the kitchen with the living and dining areas. This continuous horizontal element brings the different functions together and adds a subtle reference to retro interiors.

Blending into the Space

Since the kitchen shares just 11 square metres with the living and dining areas, it was important to keep it visually light. White cabinetry blends with the surrounding white walls, allowing the kitchen to become part of the architecture rather than a dominant volume. The existing flooring was retained, while a compact dining area, TV zone and caramel-toned sofa complete the multifunctional space.

Retro Accents

A soft-blue retro refrigerator introduces a contrasting colour and becomes a connecting element within the overall palette. Caramel and orange accents, including the sofa and lighting, add warmth and reinforce the subtle retro character of the room. Together, these details create an expressive interior without overwhelming the compact space.

Colour in Balance

Despite the variety of colours, the interior remains visually balanced because each shade appears more than once throughout the room. Ochre moves from the kitchen to the walls and backsplash, caramel and orange continue through the furniture and lighting, while blue creates a contrasting accent. Repeating these colours across different zones brings the entire kitchen, dining and living area together into one cohesive composition.
